Last night's sunset shot with iPhone
I was so frustrated that I didn’t have my real camera in the car with me - but I pulled over regardless to snap a few with my iPhone 3G (2 measly megamixels). Still - beautful sunset. Posted via email from Hey It’s Drew | Comment »

Dragon Tortoise?
On one hand, this turtle has to be psyched that it has a dragon head. Cuz that’s awesome. But on the other hand, this perfectly awesome dragon is cursed with the body of a freakin TORTOISE. Can’t most dragons fly? Psh not this lame-o! Posted via email from Hey It’s Drew | Comment »
[happening now] Panoramic photo from the top of a...
The photo quality isn’t great, but this is where I’m sitting right this very moment. It took about two hours to climb. I had a few close calls (there were 8 rock faces between 6-12 feet) but no injuries. (although I still have to make it down) I yelled and then laughed in triumph when I finally made it to the top. Powerful stuff. I need to do this more often. Posted via email...

Ko Olina at the Marriot resort lagoons
Sure, no one was in a bathing suit but that wasn’t stopping us from taking a swim. I mean, take one look at this water! We also found a frisbee which was fun until we discovered it happens to sink in water. Like a rock. And unfortunately our search party was too late. The poor little guy will be washed ashore someday to make some other people happy. Maybe it wasn’t so much that we...

[photo] Video editing from Friday's art sale...
After six hours of editing I’ve managed to turn several hours of video into a five minute video that I’m really psyched about. I did the best I could with the software I’m rockin (CyberLink PowerDirector). Yesterday I spent the day with my good friend (and talented artist) Nathan Monk at an art sale. The event was held in the beautiful Artsgarden in downtown Indianapolis. We...
[panoramic photo] Nathan at The Arts Garden
I realize the panoramic is sketchy (at best) but it captures the vibe right now at the Indianapolis Arts Garden. Nathan’s table is buzzin! What a great evening after a fun day of hanging out with a cackle of artistic minds. Positive attitudes all around. Posted via email from Hey It’s Drew | Comment »

eBay's clever "click here" unsubscribe link
This is the footer of an email I recently received from eBay. I wanted to unsubscribe from the newsletter because I don’t care about eBay’s weekly promos so I scrolled down to look for an “unsubscribe” link. HmmTake a brief look at this. Notice how clearly “Learn More”, “Privacy Policy”, and “User Agreement” can be seen, but can you...
[chart] Toshiba laptop battery usage
I don’t trust laptop batteries. They say, “3:25 remaining” and then twenty minutes later they’re giving you a low battery warning. With all of the amazing technology crammed into my device, how are we not able to better predict battery life? The other day I did a little experiment. During a four and a half hour span I periodically recorded what my laptop claimed to be...

Notice the two circled buttons from gmail. This has always sort of bugged me and I thought I’d share it with you and see if: I’m on to something or I’m crazy I propose that the word “now” should be moved to the “send” button so that these two buttons read “send now” and “save” - because, in my mind, saving a draft is...

Photo walk to get the blood moving
42 hours ago I started a sleep experiment. Its called “polyphasic sleep” and it basically means sleeping two or more times during a 24 hour period instead of the traditional 8 hours of sleep at night followed by 16 hours of awake time. The polyphasic sleep schedule I’m attempting to adopt involves sleeping for 30 minutes every 4 hours around the clock. As you can imagine, the...

People for Urban Progress: A night of Art, Hip...
Last night I had the opportunity to head downtown and hang out with my long-time friend Nathan Monk at People for Urban Progress’s studio 213 for a night of art, hip hop, and afterwards, a burger and coffee at Peppy Grill. Nathan’s art was killer and as usual there was always a crowd around his work. It’s awesome to see his style evolve and watch other people appreciate what...

Sit down, shut up, and hand over your resume
I just noticed an article on LinkedIn with the title, ”You have 10 seconds to catch a hiring manager’s attention with your resume. Is yours good enough to stand out and get noticed? Email info@yourjobAD.com or visit our LinkedIn page!” The article was posted in the Purdue Alumni group on LinkedIn.I can’t believe people still think like this! Having an attention-grabbing...

The Low-Cost Trap: A Highway to Nowhere
The easiest way to enter a service industry market is to compete on price, but it won’t get you very far. Many small businesses and freelancers figure they have to start somewhere, so why not charge less than everyone else? “We can raise our price when we have a portfolio and testimonials”, they reason. Don’t do it. Competing on price, especially in a service industry, is a trap. I know because I...

Today I accidentally clicked on a Facebook ad. Well, I didn’t really click on the ad, I clicked near it. Same thing right? Not really. Not when it disrupts my user experience. Not when advertisers are paying Facebook per click. To my knowledge I’ve never accidentally clicked on a Google ad - so I did a quick nonscientific study. As far as I know, Google actively works to...

Full Circle
This evening we touched down in Dublin where this trip began two weeks ago. It’s surreal to walk a (relatively) familiar city and felt a bit like déjà vu. Although unlike last time we aren’t wide-eyed noobs. We feel more like seasoned travelers. I wish I knew how many miles we’ve walked, trained, and plane’d. I can’t believe I used to complain about walking accross...
On a Boat
Today we got out the door around 8:30 to head south for a boat tour down the Rhine. It was raining and chilly this morning but when we got off our train (about 2 hours) it was sunny and much warmer. The train ride into the middle Rhine valley was just beautiful. The surrounding hills/mountains were peppered with small castles about every 2-3 miles and the slopes were covered with vineyards. ...
